We wanted to put some focus on this wonderful alternative therapy as many are still unaware of what it actually is, how it works and the incredible benefits.

Let’s be honest, some people are sceptical of Reiki as a practice of healing through energy while others swear by it! and it’s definitely gaining popularity.

We’ve pulled together some key points (some of which you may not expect) to help explain what its all about but ultimately, why not give it a try and make your own mind up.

For me the beauty of Reiki lies in the simplicity of it… Having enjoyed alternative therapies myself in the past, I really wanted to offer Reiki to my clients so they could feel the benefits for themselves. I am now Usai Reiki Two – Practitioner level qualified and offer Reiki as a one-off 45 minute treatment or course of 3 treatments.

1. REIKI IS A HEALING TECHNIQUE

Reiki is a simple, safe energy healing technique used for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing, which was developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. The word Reiki combines two Japanese words – Rei which means ‘Spiritual Wisdom’ and Ki or ‘Universal Life Energy’. In a way, Reiki is a special kind of Ki that is guided by spiritual consciousness (spiritually guided life energy).

2. YOU STAY FULLY-CLOTHED DURING A SESSION

A complete Reiki treatment session is usually given to a fully clothed person who’s lying on a treatment table or sitting comfortably in a chair. Reiki is generally offered through gentle, non-intrusive touch. The healer’s hands are placed and held on (or above) various locations on the body, often corresponding to our main energy centres (chakras). Some Reiki practitioners hold their hands just above the body, rather than directly on the body. Reiki does not involve pressure or physical manipulation and is usually a deeply enjoyable and relaxing experience for the client.”

3. IT CAN BOOST YOUR SEX LIFE

Reiki can improve and intensify our sex lives by increasing intimacy by emphasising the importance of reconnection and balance. Reiki can also be an empowering experience that can increase feelings of self esteem and help heal us from traumatic experiences, fears and beliefs. This can in turn improve our sex lives.

4. IT CAN HELP PMS

Reiki can be useful for PMS through helping to balance hormones. According to Reiki, each endocrine gland corresponds to one of the seven Chakras these chakras influences hormone secreting activities. Reiki can assist in balancing the body’s energy systems.

5. IT CAN HELP YOU SLEEP

It is a soothing, relaxing energy healing method that can assist with stress reduction through helping to calm the energy centres. This can help people suffering from sleeping difficulties, in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle. In other words, Reiki is unlikely to reverse the effects of drinking three espresso coffees and eating a large piece of cheesecake just before bedtime.”
